For 15 years, You Are Here has supported and championed Canberra artists.

Thriving arts communities don’t happen by accident. They take effort; producers who connect artists to opportunities, run workshops and feedback sessions, create spaces for experimentation, build partnerships, support accessibility, and keep projects on track. We support artists across every artform and career stage – not just a single project or event, but over time. Through long-term creative relationships, one-on-one support, and artistic development, we help create the conditions for experimentation, collaboration and ambitious new work.
For 15 years, that’s the work You Are Here has been doing in Canberra, working everywhere from empty shopfronts to carparks. Now, we have the opportunity to create a long-term home for independent artists in the heart of the city: a space that is genuinely supportive, affordable, and centred around creative process and community. We’re ready to build something lasting at 131 City Walk.
Securing 131 City Walk has taken concentrated effort, and we’re working hard to get everything up and running. More than just a venue, this space gives us the opportunity to build sustainable income streams through workshops, venue hire, studios and events that will help us support artists long into the future, without relying solely on government funding. But spaces don’t run themselves.
This EOFY, we’re raising $30,000 to support the producers who make all of this possible: the people opening the doors, mentoring artists, coordinating programs, running workshops, building collaborations, advocating for the sector, and creating the conditions for ambitious creative work to happen. Through initiatives like YAH Club, we’re providing direct support to artists that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else in Canberra. Everything we do is designed so artists can focus on making their art with time, space, creative partnerships, and support.
By supporting the YAH producers, you enable us to provide artists with the time, support, and critical community they need to grow. Experiments become fully realised works. New collaborations form.
