What we’re trying

Between now and the end of July 2026, we are running Pilot Pivot Pilot Pivot – a program designed to test ways to activate 131 City Walk.

We’re trialing:

  • Street facing art “Kiosk”

The Studios

We’re offering a shared, open-plan studio environment for practicing artists who enjoy working alongside others.

The Space
  • 8–10 individual studio areas within a communal workspace
  • Each studio area is approximately 4–5 sqm
  • Next to the studios is a workshop area, with public programs running some days and evenings.

This is an open plan, coworking-style studio—best suited to artists who are comfortable with some background activity, including noise, movement, and occasional smells.

Cost
  • $66 per week for standard studio spaces
  • Larger spaces available by negotiation
What’s Included
  • A clearly marked studio area to make your own
  • 24/7 access (fob entry to the building + code access to the studio)
  • WiFi access
  • Kitchenette
  • Separate sink for washing art materials

You’re welcome to bring in everything you need to set up your space. We’re also happy to help source equipment or materials where possible.

Who It’s For

These studios are ideal for:

  • Artists with small to medium-scale practices
  • People who enjoy a shared, social working environment
  • Practices that don’t rely on toxic chemicals (ventilation is limited)
Things to Note
  • Studios are open plan—individual spaces are not lockable
  • Staff are sometimes around during the day, but not at all times
  • You’ll need to arrange your own Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and any other relevant coverage

FAQS

What is Blank Cultural Platform?

Blank Cultural Platform is a new initiative to activate a CBD builidng with arts activity. We are working closely with The Blank Corporation to make it happen.

Do I have to be an “artist” or “producer” to be a part of Blank Cultural Platform?

Not necessarily. We want to share space with people who are creative, who are starting new (ad)ventures, and who want to be part of our community. If it’s calling to you, reach out for a chat!

Are there other spaces in the building?

Yes! There is a large dance studio, more offices, and a rooftop courtyard.

YAH is managing the spaces on Level 1 (studios, gallery, indoor gig space)

Blank is managing the spaces on Level 2 (rooftop courtyard, offices)

Latin Dance Canberra manages the dance studio.

Is there a cost?

We are a piloting a range of different financial models throughout the spaces.

Our aim is to generate revenue where we can to subsidise other spaces and activities that should be cheap or free.
